What is prayer? From the time we are sensible enough we have been introduced to prayer by our parents or elders and we religiously follow it as a ritual. Have we any time sat and pondered to ourselves in finding out the real meaning of prayer. For many of us prayer is just a good habit which we follow, or something which we are told to do by our elders, culture or religion. Some of us feel it is the holy language of communication between the holy men and women and God. And for most of us it is the conditional agreement between the almighty and us like a pact for favors to be granted and once done and received then the agreement is over, it becomes void. Prayer is not a complicated, endless stream of difficult meaningless words.
We don’t need a phone, fax, email, sms or mms to communicate to god. It’s just direct contact through prayer. Prayer is a simple way to open up to Our Father, the creator of this universe. And this mode of prayer builds up our relationship with God. It is such a pity that many of us don’t know how to build this relation and realize the real meaning of prayer that we just don’t want to even attempt prayer. Prayer is the conversation between you and God, speaking to him with absolute honesty, sincerity and simplicity. It doesn’t require any rule or regulation, endless words, chanting or compilation of lengthy, spiritual words.
Once we realize the importance of prayer in our life our whole perception and perspective about it changes and we begin to realize that this is our spiritual food that we need and this simple prayer is the only way we can communicate and relate to God all mighty. Just image that through daily prayer you are in constant touch with God, with him you are sharing all your thoughts, wildest dream, deepest desire. Which other relationship n the face of the earth is more close, personal and intimate than this one. Relations do exist between couples and family members but they all are physical and outward. The relation through prayer is the only relation which is spiritual, eternal, constant and inward.
